Back in 1955, a young woman Denise McCluggage had a chance encounter with a man almost unknown at this time Steve McQueen. Is leading to a brief affair and lasting friendship. They are separated by their own career ambitions, and the many requests and irregular schedules that come with huge distances the United States. That said, McCluggage managed to stay in touch over the years. She became a legend in the world of motor racing, driver, famous writer and photographer for over 50 years. McCluggage has won awards around the world and ran for Porsche, Jaguar, Lotus, Mini Cooper, Alfa, Elva, OSCA, Volvo, among others.

In 1961, she won the Grand Touring class at Sebring in a Ferrari 250 GT, and 1964 McCluggage won a victory in the Rally Monte Carlo for Ford.

She shared her memories of McQueen and years of relationship after his death, published in AutoWeek magazine in 1981. She remembers a young, skinny man McQueen was already obsessed with cars and racing.
